Flying is a risk sport. We try to minimize all the risks by taking ample safety checks and precautions. Our tandem pilots are well trained and certified, and we fly with only high quality, professionally checked and maintained flying equipment. Weather conditions are also carefully assessed before we take you flying.

However, no form of aviation is without risk, and injuries and death do occur in paragliding, even to trained pilots using proper equipment. Whilst Sky Summits endeavours to minimise this risk as far as is reasonably practicable, it cannot be eliminated altogether. No one should participate in paragliding who does not recognise and wish to personally assume the associated risks.

Almost anybody can enjoy paragliding tandem flight and we can fly passengers aged from 8 to 80 years. You need to be fit enough for a day of moderate hill walking and a short run needed to takeoff.

Passengers below 18 years will need parental consent to fly with us. We need a signed consent from your GP if you are above 65 years, or suffer from any illness or injury that may affect you during your paraglider flight or training, 

As each glider has an upper weight limit, our pilots are carefully matched to each passenger according to their combined weight and the weather conditions. We currently enforce a weight limit of 120kg  per passenger however this can vary according to the passenger's level of fitness.

No experience is required to fly as you will be fully briefed prior to take off. You will merely run a few steps and the rest is in the hands of your fully qualified pilot. Just sit back and enjoy your flight!

Wear comfortable outdoor clothes and sports shoes with good ankle support. Although not required, covered arms and legs are preferable.

Sunglasses and a cap/hat to protect yourself from the sun.  And we suggest that you carry enough water with you. 

Feel free to bring along a camera if you want to record your experience. Our tandem pilot will be filming it from his GoPro camera anyway, and this footage is all yours after the flight.

For air experience flights, we need winds of around 8 – 15mph at the brow of the hill that we’re flying from. We cannot fly in rain or when the ground is completely sodden. We also need good visibility and clouds well clear of the hilltops. 

Inspite of checking the forecasts in advance, we may not fly or train on the day if your Air Experience Instructor feels the conditions are unsuitable. This can be frustrating for you, but we have your safety in mind, and can always fly another time.
